We were approached by the Barnsley NHS to build them a small mobile clinic which could go into the centre of town and not take up too much room but be very much like a tardis so it could cope with a few people at a time. Consequently we built them a VW Transporter mobile unit with an ALKO chassis to lower the entrance height. We also added a small generator and hydraulic pump together with a hydraulic opening canopy to enable ladies to operate the unit. This gave a small area outside for interaction with patients undercover which was not threatening and open. The whole unit was covered in CCTV cameras so that the operators felt safe and there was a main presentation screen inside for giving advice on treatment of cancer.
