This trailer was developed for Gobbler Boats to carry their four-ton oil reclamation vessel.
The trailer has a hydraulically tilting bed to enable the trailer to launch the boat directly into the sea. A winch is powered from the tractor unit to pull the twin-hulled vessel onto the trailer.
The trailer and boat were shown at the Seaworx show in Southampton where they won an award for Innovation. The Gobbler boat is designed to skim oil spillages from the water’s surface and collect it in in large floating receptacles towed behind it, which in turn is collected and the oil recycled.
The lightweight articulated trailer had to be light enough to fall within the 8,700 kg train weight of the Iveco Daily Tractor unit to enable it to be driven on a car licence.
