Another first for Neat Vehicles is fitting a British Airways A350 Flight Simulator in one of our Multiflex 3,500 Kg Drawbar Trailers, designed and and built here in Nottinghamshire. The trailer expands on one side to give a full raised stage with covered canopy outside area and features bifold doors so the inside display area can be accessed straight off the stage.
The simulator is built into the forward cabin and is built using lightweight materials, but designed to be as realistic as possible using overhead projectors and a computer programme designed to enable the public to be able to fly and land the A350 airliner.
Along with built in speakers and amp and operating throttles, rudder pedals and joysticks all linked to the computer it is as close to the real thing as you can get without the movement of a full blown simulator. Also on board the trailer to compliment the simulator is a 65″ touchscreen LED screen inside which can operate in either Portrait or Landscape positions, it has a rotating bracket on the rear and customers can navigate their way through a menu of information about the aircraft and British Airways. Externally we have mounted a full 65″ weather proof high brightness external screen with a rolling display. At the rear of the trailer is a counter containing the air conditioning and a small storage cupboard together with three modular seats we built with storage below.
Double display panels at each end of the trailer can be folded out in three different configurations, fully out in a long line, folded to each side of the canopy with one wing folded out, or folded to the canopy and folded back, to give the smallest footprint.
The drawbar rotates round to either stow at the rear or go straight forward depending on configuration of the display panels. Two three section flagpoles complete the outside display and the three sectional aluminium steps provide a wide entrance and exit for the public. One of the steps can also locate on the rear door for when the trailer is folded away. Polished stainless handrails surround the stage and steps and a gate with magnetic locks provides access to the 12 Volt portable lift which allows disabled access onto the trailer. One of the flight seats on the simulator removes so that a disabled person can also fly the simulator
