The Cardiff Council Road Safety truck was built to enable the Road Safety unit to visit schools and events and bring on children to teach them the rules of the road by simply showing them physically on the vehicle how to cross the road. With the vehicle being a hydraulically triple expanding unit it gave a good area inside to demonstrate this. The main area had a pedestrian crossing with a road area and seating for the children. They used a remote controlled car with driver operated from the small office with one way glass to demonstrate good practice crossing the road. There was also a driver simulator in the hydraulic slide-out and a screen to show road safety clips.
The special truck has built in generator and air conditioning, disabled lift and small kitchen.
